Brain stimulation therapy FDA Approved for Treatment-Resistant Depression Outpatient Procedure, 20 min procedure, approved by most insurance companies, no anesthesia required, the patient can drive to the appointments.

Eastern Panhandle Psychiatry has treated many patients successfully who have stopped taking medications after the procedure but can continue with medications also.

32 to 34 treatments are recommended for the treatment of depression and the first 20 at least have to be Monday thru Friday the next 12 can be spaced out to 2 to 3 per week, some patients take maintenance treatments that are not covered by insurance.

rTMS is also used to treat a lot of psychiatric and other medical conditions like OCD, smoking cessation therapy, PTSD, Anxiety and Panic Attacks, ADHD, etc. However, the FDA doesn’t approve of this and insurance companies also don’t pay for the procedure. You will be monitored weekly or every other week by your provider and changes in the TMS treatment will be done to get the best response from the procedure. rTMS can be repeated for relapse of symptoms after 3 months of the first course of treatment.

Slight discomfort on the scalp during the procedure is the main complaint and the setting in the machine can be adjusted to make the procedure tolerable. Seizures, headaches, tinnitus (ringing in the ears ) can be rare side effects of the procedure. If you have a seizure disorder you might need clearance from your neurologist for the procedure

Having metal like shrapnel in your scalp or metal in your skull is a contraindication to having the procedure.

Some insurance companies require co-pay for each procedure so you might be responsible for 32 copays but we can do the financial arrangement.
